About this deal

Michael can manual focus his lens and look through the viewfinder and see his results while the power is off. Canon Eos 200D DSLR Camera has extraordinary 24.2-megapixel with 100-25600 auto & 100-25600 in whole stop increments ISO for the rich image with detail & color. This compact and simple but versatile structure has shutter speed of 30-1/4000 sec and DIGIC 7 processor that ensure low light photography. Its 7.7 cm (3.0") Vari angle LCD 1040 K sRGB dots touchscreen has 170° viewing angle that rotates with the motion of the camera. This world’s lightest DSLR with approximate weight of 453g makes it portable and user friendly. It can generate world’s fastest live view focusing with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and portrait photos in shallow depth of field by large APS-C sensor. In addition, it has EF/EF-S lens mount, Red-Eye reduction lamp, built-in flash and rechargeable li-ion battery. As mentioned earlier, you can also use Wifi to wirelessly remote control the EOS 200D / SL2 using the free EOS Utility application for Windows and MacOS computers. The EOS Utility is one of the lesser-known highlights of owning a Canon DSLR. With the camera connected to your computer, whether wirelessly or over USB, the EOS Utility lets you remote control pretty much any function or setting of the camera that doesn’t involve turning a physical switch or dial – so you may not be able to remotely change the exposure mode, say from Aperture Priority to Manual, but you can control pretty much anything else. And what you mean by "direct access"? You can't adjust exposure settings when DSLR is turned off or go to menu. You need to power the DSLR up just like mirrorless. If you mean with "Direct Access" that you can use DSLR like a scope, that is true. But masters don't even need to use viewfinder to previsualize the framing. Canon’s EOS 200D, or Rebel SL2 as it’s known in North America, is a compact DSLR aimed at photographers buying their first interchangeable lens camera. Announced in June 2017, it replaces the four-year-old EOS 100D / SL1, and like that model offers a more sophisticated point-of-entry than the cheapest DSLRs and a smaller body to boot.

Finally to wrap-up this section, there’s still no auto-stitched panorama option on the 200D / SL2. I don’t know why Canon continues to avoid it when most of its rivals, including Sony, Panasonic and Fujifilm, offer a means to pan the camera, capture a bunch of images then automatically stitch them together into one long photo. I think it would enhance the 200D / SL2. The model features an APS-C CMOS sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF, DIGIC 7 image processor, ISO 100-25600 range, optical viewfinder with a 9-point AF system, 7.7cm (3.0 inch) 1040k dot articulated touchscreen, 1080p60 video with microphone input, and built-in Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. [1] [4] It became available in July 2017, alongside Canon's parallel announcement of the 6D Mk II. [5] [2] It weighs 453 grams, including battery and memory card. [6] Features [ edit ]Highlight Tone Priority is a custom function which can be enabled from the menu. Use of this custom function improves highlight detail by expanding the camera's dynamic range in the highlights. As you can see from these examples, Highlight Tone Priority reduced the extent of highlight blow-out considerably. A button at the top of the app lets you switch into Movie Mode, again with full control over exposure and other options; you can also use the phone’s screen to pull-focus remotely while filming. Whether shooting stills or filming video, the files are always recorded to the camera’s memory card, but as explained above, they’re easy to subsequently access from the Images On Camera option in the app. Canon has made quite a few changes from the 100D across the body, some of which are more obvious than others. One of the noticeable differences is the material used around the handgrip. The rubberised texture is smoother and not as grippy as it was on the EOS 100D. They’re not too shoddy in this dimly lit scene, either. There’s a fair amount of noise but it’s a solid result considering the ISO 16000 setting (1/60s, f/5, ISO 16000, 62mm equivalent) Canon EOS 200D review: Verdict The advice doesn’t go into any great detail, but should prove useful to users just starting out with a DSLR who may be unsure of how changing key camera settings will affect their images.

Skin tones in brightly lit conditions look lifelike and natural (1/160s, f/8, ISO 100, 64mm equivalent) Person A is always going around to convince person B that person A's system is better because in reality person A really doesn't believe their system is better. On older generations if you wanted to control the DSLR over Wifi using the EOS Utility, it had to be via a router or hub, which limited wireless operation to home, office or studio use. But since the 70D, it now also works with a direct peer-to-peer connection between camera and computer. This means you can wirelessly remote control the EOS 200D / SL2 directly with a laptop alone, literally in the field. I tried it in my house, remote controlling the camera from different rooms or even floors with my MacBook Pro, although understandably as the range increased, the live view refresh and speed of transferring images (if enabled) reduced. So while wireless control is cool, you should still use a USB cable for the best and most responsive experience. I’d also love to see an option to program a series of shots, not just at preset intervals but also with preset exposure values that could be different for each shot if desired. Switching to video mode is easy enough from the on/off switch and the video options you’re most likely to need are easily accessed on screen. Ultimately with full control over the camera via your phone, tablet or laptop, along with Bluetooth providing easy GPS tagging and connectivity, the EOS 200D / SL2 features one of the best wireless experiences around.Technically speaking, Canon EOS 200D is superior to Canon EOS 2000D, with an overall iCamRank score of 58 and 50, respectively. As an EOS DSLR, the 200D / SL2 features a standard EF lens mount with native compatibility with the entire Canon EF lens catalogue, including EF-S models designed for its smaller APS-C sensor. This is the key benefit of the EOS 200D / Rebel SL2 over rival formats, especially youthful mirrorless ones: native access to over 80 lenses from the enormous Canon catalogue without the need for an adapter or compromised AF performance. I should also add that some of the budget lenses are much more affordable than mirrorless alternatives, in particular models like the EF 50mm f1.8. See my Canon lens guide for the lenses I recommend.

To illustrate my experiences with continuous autofocus, here’s a short sequence of my friend Ben riding his bike straight towards me at mild speed. I used the EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM II at 200mm f2.8 and in this sequence, the upper-most AF point when the camera was held vertically. This was positioned over Ben’s face. The camera has access to mechanical shutter speeds between 1/4000 and 30 seconds, plus a Bulb option for longer exposures; the fastest flash sync speed is 1/200. There’s no built-in Bulb timers for pre-set periods, but when shooting in Live View you can start and stop a Bulb exposure by tapping the screen and a timer is helpfully displayed. There’s no interval timer facilities built-in either, unless you count the timelapse movie mode which doesn’t record the individual images. Offering some consolation though is the supplied EOS Utility for Mac OS and Windows systems which, when connected via USB or Wifi, offers both an interval timer and Bulb timer; the Camera Connect app also lets you tap your phone’s screen to start a Bulb exposure and again to stop it. The Canon 200D shares a similar set of features with the Canon EOS 100D. Both models are the smallest DSLR cameras produced by Canon, described as "the smallest and lightest DSLR" and are upper entry-level DSLRs. [7] However, the 200D has the improved Dual-pixel CMOS AF system and the improved DIGIC 7 image processor. [ citation needed]

The Live View button is within easy reach of your right thumb. A grid line display and very useful live histogram can be enabled to help with composition and exposure, and you can zoom in by up to 10x magnification of the image displayed on the LCD screen. Focusing in Live View via a half-press of the shutter release as normal. During Live View recording you can also use the touch-sensitive screen to change AF point, and to fire off the shutter release if you want to. This setup can be particularly useful for macro and still life shoots, where you’re using the camera on a tripod and don’t want to look through the viewfinder.

It works, but the initial setup is more than a little complicated and while the touch-screen on the 200D / SL2 makes it fairly easy to tap out a caption, I still much prefer sharing images socially with my phone. So if it were me, I’d use the Wifi to simply copy the desired images from the camera onto my phone first, then share from there. The Canon EOS 200D has 2 different JPEG file quality settings available, including Fine and Normal, with Fine being the higher quality option. Here are two 100% crops which show the quality of the two options. Fine (5.87Mb) (100% Crop) The JPEG engine has captured the rich colours in this scene exceptionally well (1/60s, f/5.6, ISO 100, 35mm equivalent) PS – if you’re into vlogging, you can just about get away with one of the EF-S 18-55mm kit zooms, but even at 18mm your face can become quite large on the frame with the camera held at arm’s length – see my clip later in the movie mode section. Instead I’d recommend the EF-S 10-18mm zoom which goes much wider, allowing you to appear further away while also being more forgiving to any camera shake. See my Canon EF-S 10-18mm STM review-so-far. I should also add that if the mode dial is set to Creative Filters and you enter movie mode, yet another selection of effects becomes available: Dream, Old Movies, Memory, Dramatic B&W, or Miniature which are applied automatically to the clip as you film – see the Movie mode section in a moment.sec (1/2 or 1/3 stop increments), Bulb (Total shutter speed range. Available range varies by shooting mode)
